Tara McDonald is an Emmy Award winning Irish Hair & Makeup Designer based in the UK.

She has worked consistently over the past 25 years as a Hair & Makeup Designer in film and television.

In 2023 Tara received a Creative Arts Emmy nomination for ‘Outstanding Contemporary Makeup’, a BAFTA nomination in ‘Best Hair & Makeup Design’ and a Makeup Artist & Hair Stylist Guild Award nomination in ‘Best Period and/or Character Makeup’ for her work on the hit Netflix show WEDNESDAY. A further win was announced at The Online Film and Television Awards in ‘Best Makeup’ for the team.

In 2023 Tara completed filming on the Netflix/ Pathe film JOY. This feature film is set in the 1960s and 1970s and stars Bill Nighy, James Norton and Thomasin McKenzie.

Film credits include What’s Love Got To Do With It? A British romantic comedy written by Jemima Khan and starring Lily James, Emma Thompson, Sajal Ali and Shazad Latif, The Phantom Of The Open, Blithe Spirit, Greed, Dad’s Army, Submarine, King Of Thieves, Ginger & Rosa and My Summer of Love.

Recent TV credits include Wednesday, Black Mirror: Season 6, Roadkill, Stephen Poliakoff’s Summer Of Rockets and Close To the Enemy.

Tara is currently working in pre production on Nick Cave’s The Death of Bunny Monro for Sky Atlantic/ Clerkenwell Films.
